some quick snapshots of the qualification heats of saturday
After two days of good practice in nice and warm conditions, this friday afternoon the qualifying practice took place in suburb circumstances.
In Seniors our drivers did a good job as well, although some had some difficulties with either settings, free laps and sticky competitors. Bas de Laat qualified for 8th position, TanTan at 12th and Brian Eerde (and his hardworking father) at 13. Joel Affolter had some difficulties with settings today but will for sure find his way on saturday.
In DD2 Harold is struggling with either the track, the heat or the heats…. anyhow is improving every lap and we know theres more to find. Erwin Montfoord, last but definitely not least, did a great job and qualified himself for the 13th position, managing all the hard work on his own.
Our only GILLARDlady this competition, Tamsin Germain, will start at 3th position in the DD2 masters, You go girl!!!
For saturday we wish all our drivers good luck! Stay tuned 🙂
Wackersdorf, Germany – 11th May, 2012
Round 2 of the 2012 ROTAX MAX EURO CHALLENGE set to be an exciting one in Germany
This weekend sees the second exciting round of the 2012 ROTAX MAX EURO CHALLENGE being hosted by the ever-popular ProKart Raceland circuit in Germany. The 1,275 metre Wackersdorf track offers the ideal location for the international Rotax championship, providing some great racing, facilities and hospitality for the many teams and spectators who come out to support the competitors making-up the 160-strong field representing 29 different nations this weekend.
Following two days of open practice for all drivers, this afternoon sees official timed practice for all three classes – Rotax Junior Max, Senior Max and the Rotax DD2 gearbox class in the battle for grid positions for tomorrows 19 qualifying heats. Sunday begins with the second chance deciders for juniors and seniors, prior to the pre-final and final to finish.
The opening round of the series in Belgium turned on some brilliant racing in early April, especially in the Max category, while the points are what will count most in the fight for overall championship standings as we approach mid-season. With the high caliber of drivers making up the field, the second edition is set to be yet another fabulous weekend of racing.
Temperatures leading into the event have been in the high twenties, although the forecast indicates some storms and cooler days are on the horizon. Last year, the rain arrived just in time for Friday’s qualifying practice and again for finals day, creating some surprising results to make the championship even more interesting after the Bavarian round.
Tune in to the LIVE TIMING accompanied by LIVE commentary atwww.rotaxmaxeurochallenge.com where you can also find all the results from each session and the lap-by-lap summary of each driver on track.
